I shoot, direct, edit, and build it all in post. Sometimes one piece of a project, sometimes the whole thing.
I'm a DP, director, editor, and motion artist in Minneapolis. I work across the entire pipeline, pre-production through post, so the vision stays consistent and nothing gets lost along the way.
I've been making videos since I was a kid with a camcorder, but the path here wasn't a straight line. I studied aerospace engineering, went to work as an engineer, and kept finding my way over to the marketing team to help with their videos. Eventually I stopped fighting it, taught myself After Effects, and never looked back. I went freelance in 2015, and over a decade later I'm working across cinematography, producing, directing, editing, color, motion, and VFX.
Knowing how to do all of it makes me better at each piece. Understanding the edit makes me a better DP. Understanding VFX makes me a better director. That said, I rarely do all of it on a single project, and I don't need to. I love jumping onto teams that are already in place as much as I love building one from scratch. When a project calls for it, I bring in a circle of people who are the best at what they do and we build the dream team.
The engineering background never really left. It shows up in how I plan, how I problem-solve, how I think about efficiency. But at the end of the day, I do this for the same reason I picked up that camcorder as a kid. I just love making things.
